Today In History - Friday, December 7, 2007

For those of you who don't know today is Pearl Harbor Day. This is the day we give special remembrance and recognition to the brave men and women who lost their lives during that fateful attack, and to those who survived to win the war. Please take a minute to remember the cost of your freedom. Stop and think about the citizen volunteer soldiers serving today in our armed forces. Pray for them. Pray for their families and friends. Pray for our armed forces and our leaders this holiday season.

Today In History - November 22

On this day in 1963 President Kennedy was assassinated in Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested as a suspect in the assassination. Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as the nation's 36th President. I wasn't alive when this occured, but my dad was and he always says he will never forget where he was and what he was doing when the principal of his school came into the classroom and announced the tragedy. I do remember when my principal came in and told the class that President Reagan was shot and in serious condition. Where were you when either of these events occured?

Today In History - November 20

Some of the highlights of this day in history: John F. Kennedy was born, Nazi war crimes trials begin at Nuremburg, Cabaret hits broadway, future Queen Elizabeth II of Britain marries, and the Mexican revoloution begins. Not as earth shattering as some days but still some cool stuff happening. Enjoy.

Today In History - November 19, 2007

There are some really cool thing that happened today in history. Abraham Lincoln delieved what is arguably his most famous speech The Gettysburg Address. This has always been on of my favorite. The feeling behind the words is what really gets me. I have always been able to picture President Lincoln standing there giving this address. Accounts say that there were tears from the President's eyes.

Well happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. You have a couple of days to eat healthy and exercise before stuffing your face on Thanksgiving. Don't get to caught up with family, football, and shopping to stop for a while and give thanks to The One who makes this all possible, and I don't mean Bill Gates.

Veteran's Day - Today In History

With today being Veteran's Day I want to say a big thanks to all veterans of the US Armed Forces. I have veterans in my family and to listen to what they went through from WW2, vietnam, and now some of the younger relatives in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation, you have to give them much respect.

I encourage you all to honor this day that has been set aside to remember the men and women who have served their country in the armed forces. If you have a family member that is a veteran call that person and say thank you. Have a friend that is a veteran do the same. Fly a flag.....put out a ribbon.....say Thanks to a veteran for keeping this country free and the greatest country on the face of the earth.
