Happy Thanksgiving - Late I Know

I know this is a little late but....

I still wanted to wish everyone a blessed Christmas season and say a belated Happy Thanksgiving. We are all truly blessed and at this time of year we need to be even more thankful for and generous with the blessings God has granted us.

Here are a few pics of the resort where my family and I were staying. It is in the Ozarks of Missouri on Table Rock Lake. It was beautiful weather the first part of the week with 70 and sunny Monday through Thanksgiving. The only little snafu on the trip was that on our second day there, Tuesday evening, my daughter fell and broke her collar bone. She was still able to have a wonderful time and impressed the heck out of me with how she handled her injury...well anyway...

Here are some pics...these are raw...I haven't had the time to touch them up

I'm Moving!

Since I moved out of my last residence back in the middle of June I have been a vagabond. I have temporarily been staying with friends and family and looking for a place to call my own. Now you may be wondering why it took so long? Well for me it was a very big decision. I have two kids and where I live has a big impact on them as well. At the present time they don't live with me, but I am hopeful that they will be in the near future. Because of this I had to take them into account when it came to size and location.

I looked at a ton of places in many many different municipalities. Well I finally decided on a place last week and put down my deposit. I have never rented before, but given my situation at the moment I have not been looking to buy. Well, I met the owner of the place last night and signed the lease. I now have keys to my brand new place. To say I'm a bit stoked is probably an understatement. It will be so nice to have my own place again. It will be next week before I move in and I am sooo looking forward to it.

The price and the location of this place really can't be beat. The original asking price was quite a bit more than what I am paying so that is a blessing. The location is very close to work and major roadways so I can get places pretty easily. It is also within walking distance for the elementary, middle, junior, and high schools. Now isn't that cool. Congrats to me!

How to save money at Restaurants with Restaurant.com Certificates

Restaurant.com is a great way for you to save some money this holiday season. I have been using Restaurant.com for quite a while now and love their prices. Normally you get a $25 certificate for only $10, which is a great deal. As an affiliate partner with Restaurant.com I get information on some of their best deals. I wrote an article on Profitable Productive Blogging last October about How To Save Money At Restaurants and talked about how you can stretch your dollar using Restaurant.com certificates and their special promotions. Well I am please to announce that once again Restaurant.com is running their TREATS coupon code promotion. Once you have selected all the certificates you want enter the coupon code TREATS in the checkout box and you will get this incredible deal.

Head on over to Restaurant.com and start searching for restaurants in your area. They have restaurant descriptions and even menus for you to help choose a new restaurant. The cool thing about purchasing a gift certificate from Restaurant is that you don't have to wait for it in the mail you simply print it out. It really is that simple and in just a few minutes you have stretched your dining dollar and have your certificates in hand and ready to use. Once again, after you have selected your certificates and are checking out you will need to enter the promo code TREATS in the promo code box to get this special deal. Again that is coupon code TREATS to the get the best deal Restaurant.com is currently offering. This offer expires on October 31st so you need to hurry to Restaurant.com and get your certificates before it is too late.

Just so you know Restaurant.com offers an unconditional guarantee so you never have to worry about a restaurant honoring the certificates you have purchases. I do want to note that some of the restaurants have minimum purchase amounts for using the certificates so check the details of each offer so you don't get any surprises.

Go Faster - Turbocharge Your Ride

People that know me know I like to go fast. Whether it is in my car or on my bike I like speed. I don't drive like an idiot nor do I drive aggressively or stupidly, but when the road permits I do like to go fast. I have a Mercedes E320 sport that I have put a turbocharger on and it made a huge difference in the performance of the vehicle. If you have ever thought about boosting the performance of your vehicle by adding an air induction turbo system you should check out Turbochargerpros dot com. Turbochargerpros.com has the turbocharger you need to make your ride fly.

The site is easy to navigate and you can quickly and easily find the parts for your make and model. All of their parts come with at least a 1 year warranty, and some longer. They specialize in Audi and VW but have turbochargers for 100's of other makes and models. Head over and see if they have what you need. Do you have a ride that has a turbocharger or a supercharger? Just curious but do you folks know the difference? Well a turbo uses the exhaust system for power while the super uses the engine. There you go now you know. There are other differences but that is the main one. Until later....

Is Paddling Your Children Abuse?

The issue of parental paddling has been a very polarizing issue. Many parents feel that when administered in the right manner paddling is a necessary form of discipline. Others feel that it can never be administered in the right manner and is always abuse. What are your feelings on this issue? Can paddling be administered in such a way as to not be abuse?

Another angle on the issue is that of privacy. There are those that feel that how they raise and discipline their children is a personal and private manner. Many times this issue also falls along religious lines and is viewed as a biblical form of discipline.

There is a story out of Wisconsin about a Pastor that is on trial for paddling his son. The pastor used a wooden paddle and paddled each cheek of his son leaving light bruises. The case is going to be tried before a jury who will decide whether the man committed felony abuse. What are your feelings on this case? Here is a link to the story in the Portage Daily Register.

Were you paddled as a child? Did you then and do you now feel it was abuse? Do you paddle your children?

The Beauty Of The Third Coast

Living your whole life on the shores of Lake Michigan you sometimes take for granted the extreme beauty of the lake and Michigan's Great Southwest. I took some pictures the other night from the north pier in St. Joseph and thought you might appreciate them.

Here is the sky just after sunset. The brilliant blue sky was amazing that evening.

Here is my dad in silhouette against the lighthouse and the lake.
